YouPart was a youth participation project run by Südwind 2022 - 2024. The project was aimed in particular at young people who have little access to political participation, whose voices are less heard in society and politics - but who have a lot to say. Young people and young adults engaged with politics and developed their political demands: from their local living environments to Vienna and Prague to the European Parliament in Brussels.

In the European Year of Youth 2022, YouPart promoted the political participation of young people from six countries. Together with eleven partner organisations, Südwind supported young people from Austria, the Czech Republic, Italy, Slovenia, Serbia and Greece in formulating and presenting their ideas, concerns and demands to politicians at local, national and European level. All in the spirit of the EU Youth Strategy: "Engage - Connect - Empower"!

Following local and national workshops, the groups from the six participating countries met for the first YouPart Youth Conference in Vienna in June 2022. They got to know each other, exchanged ideas, discussed and worked on their demands in thematic groups.

The second youth conference took place in Prague at the end of September 2022. A list of the most important demands was drawn up on the following topics: Healthcare, LGBTQIA+, women's rights, interculturality, schools, youth work, sport, the economy, environmental protection and human rights-based migration and asylum policies.

On 6 December, the YouPart European Youth Demands were presented to MEPs in the EU Parliament in Brussels. The demands met with great interest and were welcomed as valuable support for corresponding political positions.

PROJECT RESULT: DIGITAL TOOLKIT

From 2023 to 2024, the 12 partner organisations developed the Digital Toolkit for Citizenship Education and Civic Participation in Youth Work. This innovative toolkit offers free materials for anyone working with young people on civic education and participation. The 48 units in 5 chapters are available in 7 languages: German, English, Czech, Italian, Slovenian, Greek, Serbian.
